Fishing has been part of the Hub since it opened and continues to be popular. The qualification for this course is a Level one Occupational studies, participating in leisure activities and looks at three different aspects of course fishing,
Carp fishing – This takes place at Eye Kettleby lakes and involves targeting larger fish. Students will learn about the different equipment, bait and the habitats they need to use/visit to catch the larger fish.
Pike fishing – The students will learn how to use a spinning rod and lures on a river to catch these fish; they will also need to learn about health and safety and the benefits to their health/wellbeing.
Pleasure fishing – The students will learn to catch fish using a pole with a variety of different baits. These sessions will be at Eye Kettleby lakes and the students will learn about the different fish they will catch and how to set up the equipment.
This course also focuses on the positive aspects of participating in sport and the personal benefits gained from it.
