The ability of young people to cook from scratch and the awareness of the food they eat are prevalent themes and narratives in today’s society. Led by a professional chef at our very own café, the objective of this course is to highlight the importance of healthy eating, sourcing and using fresh ingredients and dealing with customers in a catering environment.
It also covers health, safety and food hygiene. Students learn the basics of cooking and produce a wide variety of dishes which they consume at the end of each session. They attain a portfolio which evidences their progression and achievements. On completion, the students receive a Level one Certificate in Cookery with the option of progressing to Level two.
